東都桜田長州屋敷図

写真の左手に見えているのが日比谷公園ですが、ここが昔、長州藩の上屋敷があった場所とのこと。右奥は祝田橋ですが、絵の右奥に描かれているもそうなのでしょうか？
今の風景と絵を見比べながら、江戸の昔に思いを馳せるのは楽しいものです。（「ブラタモリ」の影響か？）

学生時代には、暗記が嫌いだったので歴史は避けて通ってきましたが、この歳になってようやく、歴史や古い建物・史跡なんかに興味が湧いてきています。

特に幕末～明治にかけて、長州の人たちが何を考え、どう行動してきたのか、一度しっかりと勉強してみたいものです。

先日参加した茶会でお会いした、陶芸家の方の窯元を訪問させて貰いました。
こちらの窯元の2代目だとの事です。
I visited the ceramic artist to see the pottery and pottery klin, and talk with him.
His father started making the ceramic and he is the successor to his father, he is the second generation.

陶器に関して、全く知識のない私ですが、大変丁寧に説明して頂きました。
I am not familiar with the art of ceramics but his guide-talk is very clear and easy to understand.

こちらが作品の元になる、土です。
This is the soil to be shaped, baked and become pieces of work.

形が整い、表面に薬が塗られています。
The soil above are shaped and coated with special liquid.

こちらが窯です。
This is the pottery kiln, in which the soil is baked and completed to the final work.

横から見るとこんな感じです。
The look from the side is like this.

中はこんな感じです。
The inside of the of the pottery kiln is like this. The works are put very carefully.

そして、このような様々な作品が作り出されます。
Then the pictures below are the final works. They are so impressive and unique.
I think the works reflect the passion and the heart of the artist.

陶器に関する説明を受けた後、色々とお話をさせていただく中で、
こちらの2代目の方、私と年齢が一緒であることが分かり、
更に陶芸に関して、親しみを覚えるようになりました。
After his lecture about the pices of works and pottery, we talked about ourselves and we found that we are same age....Now I feel more familiar with the art of ceramic.

ちなみに今回、湯飲み等を2点ほど購入致しました。
うーん、いろいろ考えましたが、陶芸家・・・私にはなれそうにないです。

先日、山口県萩市にある旧田中別邸という場所で、お抹茶を頂きました。
A tea ceremony was held at Mr. Tanaka's villa in Hagi, Yamaguchi.

この邸の所有者であった田中義一は、かつて内閣総理大臣兼外務大臣でした。
The original owner of this villa, Mt Giichi Tanaka, was assigned to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

先日、本屋で雑誌をペラペラとめくっていたところ、地元出身の詩人、金子みすゞさんを発見しました。美しい言葉。金子みすゞさんの言葉は、現代でも人の心を掴むようです。

One day, when I was reading magazines at book store, I found the poet from our home town. Her beautiful words still grabs the heart of the people of nowadays. Personally I am filled with a feeling of affinity with Ms. Misuzu Kaneko.

ちなみに、下記の雑誌も見つけましたが、購入はしませんでした。

ぼちぼちと、ゆっくり行きましょう。

アメリカからテレビを見ていて、尋常じゃない凄まじさを感じ、

いい話があると持ちかけられ、とあるチケットを買いました。
こちら、うまくいけば、US$20(日本円で約￥1700 )で、

The money collected by this drawing goes to the Foundation and is to be used for the schools in the city fo Torrance.

これは、Torrance市の教育施設への寄付金を集める運動の、抽選くじ。
Priusは、北米トヨタからの寄付。収益金は、全て教育施設へ。

まあ、外れたとしても、私のお金がTorrance市の子供たちの未来の為に役に立てられると思うと、それはそれで良い投資かと。

しかし、お金の集め方が上手いよね・・・・ん？あれ？

映画スターや、セレブも住まうMalibuで評判のシーフードパーラーに行ってきました。

I went to the seafood parlor in Malibu.

店の前は行列。
There are a lot of people waiting in line in front of the parlor

食事を受け取り、座席へ。
After I picked up my meal, I took a seat.

そして、頂きます。
Let's eat!!

店の前は、海、そしてPCH(Pacific Coast Highway)。
Opposite side of the parlor across the PCH is , of course, the Pacific Ocean.

ちょっと北へ走ると、こんな景色も見れます。
Go up to north, you can see this kind of beautiful view.

I think we " the wind from Chosyu" can open this kind of parlor on the beach of Yamaguchi soon.....
